Aboriginal Art Centre Hub

Perth, Western Australia

About this attraction

Aboriginal art centres are exciting places for travellers to visit and experience the energy of Aboriginal creativity and culture. The Aboriginal Art Centre Hub of WA (AACHWA) represents 24 Aboriginal art centres, encompassing 5,000 artists and 90 different language groups, scattered across the state from the Kimberley all the way into the Central Desert.

Each art centre is unique in its own way, but they all offer visitors a rare opportunity to meet Aboriginal artists in regional and remote communities, watch them work in their studios, listen to their stories, and buy authentic Aboriginal art. Unlike commercial galleries, most art centres are not-for-profit, Aboriginal-owned organisations and proceeds made from art sales go directly towards benefiting artists and their communities.

Visiting Aboriginal art centres is a great way to travel the state, connect with Aboriginal culture and witness first-hand the experience, knowledge and skills that goes into creating authentic Aboriginal artwork.
