Aquaculture Gladstone

Benaraby, Queensland

About this attraction

Based at Lookout One at Lake Awoonga, Aquaculture Gladstone is a multi-species fish hatchery offering a unique visitor attraction whilst also supporting recreational fishing across Central Queensland.

Open to the public, the facility offers visitors the opportunity to learn about the production of Barramundi, Mangrove Jack and Sea Mullet which are produced at the hatchery.

Explore the interpretive display which includes live native and pest species along with the centre piece broodstock display housing the rare Golden and White Barramundi. Also learn about other native Lake Awoonga features including Whiptail Wallabies, Yellow-bellied Gliders and Grey-headed Flying Foxes.

For those seeking a more in-depth experience, guided tours can be booked to provide an insight into hatchery operations, fish production techniques and the important work undertaken to support Lake Awoonga's renowned freshwater fishery.

Don't miss the daily fish feeding presentation. Opening and feeding times may vary so please check their Instagram for the most up-to-date information.
