Perth’s concert season: grass under your feet at Kings Park, theatre at Crown

An outdoor evening concert with a lit stage and a relaxed crowd on the grass

Perth’s warm-weather concert calendar has a rhythm of its own: picnic rugs and long dusks at Kings Park, and air-conditioned theatre nights at Crown. This season Kings Park hosts Jack Johnson’s three-night run in mid-November, Dermot Kennedy shortly after, and Ministry of Sound Classical across a December weekend — while Crown Theatre’s program keeps rolling, with MJ the Musical among the shows on our listings.

Lawn venues: freedom and friction

Outdoor shows on grass are wonderfully unregimented — bring a chair, spread out, move when you like. But grass is also uneven ground, distances from parking can be long, and “general admission lawn” tells you nothing about sightlines from a seated position. Kings Park concerts typically publish accessible viewing areas and drop-off arrangements per event; look for that information when you book rather than on the day.

  • Check the event’s published accessible viewing and parking arrangements when booking.
  • Twilight starts mean cooler temperatures but darker exits — plan the walk back.
  • A compact camp chair and a plan for toilets beat optimism every time.

The Crown precinct

Crown Theatre sits in one of the better-documented entertainment precincts in the country, and Crown Theatre Perth carries a strong accessibility score on our venue database, with details like wheelchair access, step-free entry and accessible parking listed. Parking, lifts and flat interiors make it a reliable choice for a big night without logistics anxiety.

What’s on in the west

Our WA events page pulls together listings across Perth and beyond, with venue accessibility details attached where an event sits at a venue we’ve scored. As always: details where available, and for the make-or-break specifics, the venue’s box office has the final word.
