Labour Day in NSW is a public holiday celebrated on the first Monday in October. In 2026, Labour Day will be celebrated on Monday 5th October. This annual public holiday celebrates the arrival of the eight-hour working day, a victory for workers in the 1850s.
This holiday occurs during the height of Spring. Enjoy this beautiful time of year by exploring NSW on a caravan and camping trip, relaxing at the beach or savouring food and wine amidst NSW breathtaking natural landscapes.
It is also a great time to relax on one of Sydney's beaches, enjoy a day on beautiful Sydney Harbour or take one of the invigorating coastal walks from Bondi to Coogee, the Sydney Harbour Bridge to South Head or Manly to the Spit Bridge.
