CERES Sourdough Baking Workshop
About this event
Discover the magic of sourdough at CERES Park, in Brunswick East, Melbourne. In this one-day workshop you'll transform flour, water, salt and wild yeast into your own flavourful loaves.
Guided by master baker Ken Hercott, you'll learn fundamental sourdough techniques and fermentation science. Bake a variety of breads - from crusty loaves to baguettes, pizza bases and English muffins. Enjoy a long-table lunch of pizza made on your own sourdough base. At the end of the workshop, take home your freshly baked bread, recipes and a live leaven (starter) to continue baking at home
This class welcomes all levels - whether you're a kitchen novice or an experienced baker wanting to refine your skills. All you need is enthusiasm, CERES provides key ingredients and instruction.
In the breaks of your workshop, take time to explore CERES. This lush urban eco-park offers a café, nursery, grocery, community gardens, wetlands and walking trails. Browse the CERES Market (which happens every second Saturday), or simply relax in green surroundings. Just 15 minutes from Melbourne's city centre, CERES is free to enter and embodies sustainable, creative community life in action.
