La Mama Hope Punk Climate Festival - How to Eat Rabbit
About this event
Temperatures, sea levels, and fascists are rising. Retreat to a burrow to train for survival.
Between training cycles and supply runs, Alex and Cam debate the values they can and cannot leave behind as their fight for survival intensifies. In an underground burrow, the two friends confront their proximity to danger, ill health, and their pursuit for mutually assured survival.
Written by Jamila Main ('Benched', 'Pillow Talk', 'Butterfly Kicks'), How to Eat Rabbit destroys the myth of individualism and unites a majority disabled creative team.
How to Eat Rabbit (Commendation, Griffin Theatre Award, 2021; Merit Award, State Theatre Company of South Australia, 2019) is a dark comedy for your existential crisis.

Part of La Mama Hope Punk Climate Festival.
How to Eat Rabbit is supported by Creative Australia, City of Melbourne, Darebin Arts, and Dukkana.
La Mama, Australia's most iconic intimate theatre, was founded in 1967 by Betty Burstall returning from the coffee-house theatre scene in NYC. Nowadays the coffee and biscuits are still free, you can still chat with the artists after the show, and the famous La Mama raffle still thrills.
You simply cannot leave Melbourne without having seen a show at its beloved La Mama Theatre.
