About this event
On Halloween night, the Old Geelong Gaol becomes the Geelong wine region's most immersive food and wine experience. Dark Cellars locks the region's best winemakers, brewers, distillers and artisan food producers inside the original bluestone cells of one of Victoria's most atmospheric heritage venues.
On arrival, every guest is assigned a starting cell block, handed a personalised timetable and offered a mugshot photo to set the tone. Throughout the evening, themed masterclasses are hosted by sommeliers while live performers and a temporary tattoo station keep the energy alive between pours. Guests are allocated staggered meal times for a gourmet reimagining of the classic prison food tray, served in a dedicated dining area within the Gaol. Guests roam freely through the corridors, tasting their way from cell to cell across two sessions.
Over 20 producers and a full production built around one of the most unique venues in the state, Dark Cellars is where the Geelong wine region stops being polite and starts getting dangerous.
