Amulets and Adornment
About this event
Create your own custom metalwork adornments inspired by Viking Age treasure in a workshop with SquarePeg Studios.
Take inspiration from the extraordinary objects of the Galloway Hoard!
Aspiring makers will explore how jewellery and adornment have historically acted as symbols of protection, identity, storytelling, and personal meaning.
Beginning with a guided tour of the exhibition Treasures of the Viking Age: The Galloway Hoard, this is a chance to gather inspiration from the forms, textures, patterns, and symbolism found within the hoard.
Then develop your own wearable contemporary object under the guidance of experienced facilitators from metalwork and jewellery SquarePeg Studios.
No previous experience is required.
This workshop is facilitated by SquarePeg Studios in collaboration with the Australian National Maritime Museum.
