OzAsia Festival 2026 | Hyoshi in Counterpoint

OzAsia Festival Stage at Lucky Dumpling Market, Adelaide, South AustraliaSat, 17 Oct 2026, 7:30 pm – 8:30 pm

About this event

Experience the electrifying sound of Hyoshi in Counterpoint, a trailblazing all-female Asian fusion band, as they launch their new EP, Glass Torch.

Rewriting the rules of contemporary music, Hyoshi in Counterpoint brings together six powerhouse women from different musical traditions in collaboration. Guzheng virtuoso Zhao Liang, Japanese shamisen master Noriko Tadano, Japanese percussionist Satomi Ohnishi, string legends Karen De Nardi (viola) and Monica Myung (cello), along with the soaring vocalist Jennifer Trijo (vocal, keys and accordion) blend the soul of tradition with the pulse of the modern world. Each performance is a dazzling explosion of colour and energy, where East meets West in a bold and genre-defying celebration of musical and cultural harmony.

In Japanese, the word hyoshi has multiple meanings. It can refer to time and tempo, but also to a moment, a chance, when something clicks and feels just right.
