The Whole Cake
About this event
Watch lemon cut through the sugar as Vivienne Rogis dances her way through the light and fluffy, heavy wholesome, passion‑infused crumble of her life.
'The Whole Cake' is a dance‑theatre performance inspired by the beautiful, messy complexity of modern life. At its centre sits a deceptively simple question: What does it look like, as a woman living in today's world, to have your cake and eat it too?
Through movement, storytelling and a generous dose of humour, Viv explores the shifting layers of identity, responsibility and desire that shape women's lives today. The work invites audiences to consider the flavours that make up a life — the sweet moments, the sharp ones, the heavy ones, and the nourishing ones that sustain you.
Audiences will be served six distinct slices of cake, each one drawn from a different "cake of life" representing a facet of this woman's lived experience.
Warm, imaginative and deeply relatable, 'The Whole Cake' is an invitation to savour the layers of a life lived fully — crumbs, icing and all.
