From the organiser
Faridah Cameron reveals the beauty and complexity of an interconnected world through rhythmic abstraction and meticulous mark-making.
In this solo exhibition at the Queen Victoria Art Gallery at Royal Park, Cameron's intricate paintings explore relationships between personal experience, cultural memory and the natural world.
Her distinctive thread-like application of paint builds into richly layered fields of colour, pattern and rhythm, evoking connections between past and present, tradition and contemporary artistic expression.
Recognised nationally for her distinctive approach to abstraction, Cameron's work is held in public and private collections, including Artbank, the Tasmanian Arts and Heritage Office and the Holmes à Court Collection.
