From the organiser

Journey beyond Earth and into the depths of the cosmos as Smithsonian Starstruck: An Immersive Experience brings the wonders of the universe to life in Perth.

Developed in collaboration with the Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, this immersive virtual reality experience takes visitors on an extraordinary 40-minute journey through distant galaxies, exploding stars and the black hole at the centre of the Milky Way.

Wearing wireless VR headsets, visitors can move through three-dimensional space environments, exploring the universe in a way that goes beyond traditional images and documentaries.

The journey begins at an observatory in Arizona before venturing into deep space, where visitors can explore the famous Pillars of Creation, witness a simulation of a star exploding as a supernova and encounter Sagittarius A*, the supermassive black hole at the centre of the galaxy.

Drawing on real astronomical research and observations from powerful telescopes, including Hubble and James Webb, the experience reveals how stars are born, how galaxies evolve and the extraordinary scale of the universe around us.

Combining science, virtual reality and interactive storytelling, Starstruck offers a unique opportunity to discover some of the cosmos' greatest mysteries from an entirely new perspective.

Perfect for space enthusiasts, science lovers and families with curious older children, Starstruck offers a unique opportunity to experience the cosmos like never before.
