From the organiser

Ella Thompson, WAT Artists and College of Knowledge Records present:

Ella Thompson 'Triumph & Sadness' Australian Tour

With special guest Ella Haber

Ella Thompson is standing up for feeling. Standing up for joy and pain and all the messy, confusing, beautiful details that make life worth living. Her new album Triumph & Sadness contains her most profound work yet - a powerful and unique record that has earned her a place in the global landscape of contemporary soul music with a signing to UK tastemaker label Mr Bongo.

The album, inspired by a classic sweet soul sound and rooted in the contemporary moment, is released via the collaboration of Mr Bongo and Naarm / Melbourne's artist-led College of Knowledge Records imprint. Cut direct to tape with the urgency and warmth of the iconic 60s and 70s sessions that inspired her, the album stands on its own feet in the canon of these great records. Recorded by local luminary Henry Jenkins (Surprise Chef, Karate Boogaloo, Emma Donovan & The Putbacks) and mixed by Wayne Gordon (Daptone, Wick Records, The Womack Sisters), Triumph & Sadness is a vivid and captivating journey.

Triumph & Sadness is the latest in a prolific string of releases; the past few years brought her much-beloved album 'A Ripple On The Wing' (2024) and deeply pensive EP 'Domino' (2023). These works have placed Ella as one of Australia's most compelling voices, and represent her indefatigable creativity as a songwriter, performer and co-producer. Ella's presence continues to grow as the world takes notice of her highly nuanced and deeply unique sensibilities within her own lens of soul music.

On stage, Ella Thompson's commanding aura as a performer is undeniable. Backed by a venerable band pulling from Melbourne / Naarm's best and brightest soul musicians from groups such as Temporary Blessings, Surprise Chef and Karate Boogaloo, Ella's live set soars through energetic crescendos and moments of delicate intimacy. Ella's group, replete with horn section, organ, piano, guitar, bass and drums are in lock-step with the singer to deliver powerful renditions of her music night after night.

Ella Thompson brings the songs of Triumph & Sadness, on top of established crowd favourites, throughout Australia over Spring / Summer 2026.
