  1. 1

We'll meet at St. Coffee on St. Claude before setting out on a photogenic walk full of hidden street art and local art history taking place in the 9th, 8th and 7th Wards. The areas we'll explore in the Bywater Historic District are truly "off the beaten path" and go unmentioned by guide or travel books. You'll be introduced to local and traveling artists and the various mediums used for public arts as we amble down the street.(45 min)

  2. 2

We'll learn about local art history and interpret a work of art in the St. Roch Historic District, then stop for a short break at the 149 year-old St. Roch Market, where guests will have access to gourmet snacks, drinks (including craft cocktails, beer, and wine), cold water, and clean bathrooms.(20 min)

  3. 3

We'll interact with shimmering mosaic art created by international artist Laurel True, visit a multitude of murals created by some of the city's most well-known street artists, and explore a short stretch of road that has become the site of more than two dozen public works of art.(45 min)

  4. 4

We'll stroll to the edge of the French Quarter, where we'll visit one of Banksy's remaining works of art in the city of New Orleans and discuss the impact their art had on the community!(20 min)

Museum of the Southern Jewish Experience in New Orleans

New Orleans, Louisiana

4.9 · 60 reviews on Viator

With a collection of over 4,000 artifacts spanning 13 Southern states and 350 years of history from colonial times to the present, the Museum of the Southern Jewish Experience tells the fascinating, totally unique, and often overlooked story of Jewish survival – and success – in the American South. Our award-winning permanent galleries showcase the journeys Jewish immigrants made to the South, the ways of life they chose, how Jewish traditions and practices were expressed through Southern values, and how Jewish Southerners deeply impacted this region, from the Revolutionary War to the civil rights movement – and were, in turn, influenced by their friends and neighbors. Our rotating Special Exhibition Gallery hosts the compelling past-and-present stories of Jewish communities, individuals, and ideas throughout the American South with stand-alone art and artifacts exhibits.
