Itinerary

View itinerary · 7 stops
  1. 1

Stop on the shores of Loch Ness to learn more about the loch and the world famous monster which lurks in the dark waters. Alternatively you can take a cruise on the Loch - our favourite way to enjoy Loch Ness.(15 min)

  2. 2

Watch a short video about Urquhart Castle before exploring the historic ruins.(1 hr)

  3. 3

The majority of our guests enjoy a drive through Inverness for views of the river, town house and castle. There is of course the option to stop in Inverness to see the cathedral or go for a wander around the city should you wish to do so.(pass by)

  4. 4

A popular stop on the tour is Culloden Battlefield, the site of the last pitched battle on British soil. There's a really good visitor centre here with a 360 cinema which puts you right at the heart of the battle. The alternative is to take a walk around the battlefield, visit the cairn and take a look around Leanach cottage.(1 hr)

  5. 5

From the battlefield it's only a short drive to the Culloden Viaduct and Clava Cairns which features a selection of standing stones and is an interesting example of a well preserved Bronze Age cemetery.(20 min)

  6. 6

Cawdor Castle is one of our favourite castles in Scotland. Still used as a family home its kind owner moves out in April to allow guests a chance to wander her castle and grounds. Top tip: we love wandering around the walled gardens.(1 hr)

  7. 7

If beer is your thing we highly recommend visiting the Black Isle Brewery on your way back to the ship. With a range of beers to choose from they will kindly let you try them for free.(20 min)
