Before reaching Dover, we make a stop at the Battle of Britain Memorial, beautifully positioned on top of the iconic White Cliffs. We continue to the magnificent Dover Castle, one of England’s most historic and awe-inspiring fortresses. Founded in the 12th century, this medieval stronghold has long been known as the “lock and key to England” for its crucial defensive role through the centuries. You will have approximately two hours to explore its fascinating grounds and exhibitions. Step inside the medieval Great Tower, uncover the underground wartime tunnels where Operation Dynamo was planned during the evacuation of Dunkirk, and visit the ancient Roman lighthouse that has stood for nearly 2,000 years.
