Winter Lantern Festival transforms the grounds of Jamestown Settlement into an illuminated outdoor wonderland. Hundreds of artisan-crafted lanterns bring color and light to displays inspired by Christmas, Jamestown Settlement history, early America, natural landscapes, woodland creatures, and the America 250 anniversary. Each lantern is made from hand-painted silk cloth arranged over a frame and illuminated with LED lights. Displays range from approximately 6 to 30 feet tall, creating striking scenes to explore at your own pace. Visitors can enjoy food and drinks from local vendors and take photos throughout the festival. Located at Jamestown Settlement, a living-history museum that interprets 17th-century Virginia, the Winter Lantern Festival offers a seasonal evening experience for visitors of all ages. Plan for about one hour to walk through the displays.
