Royal Flying Doctor Service Tourist Facility: Two Iconic Territory Stories

Darwin, Northern Territory

4.8 · 285 reviews on Viator

Two Iconic Territory Stories in One Iconic Location One started Territory operations in 1939, the other, occurred in 1942 as an act of aggression unparalleled on Australian soil. Both forged the resolve and resilience of the people who live in Australia's Northern Territory. The first iconic story is the Royal Flying Doctor Service, affectionately known throughout Australia as the RFDS. Founded by the Reverend John Flynn, it began its aero medical operations in the Northern Territory in 1939. The second iconic story featured is the Bombing of Darwin on 19th February 1942. The bombing of the harbour brought destruction to the city of Darwin, and many of the experiences and stories of what happened that day. This facility sits on the iconic location of Stokes Hill Wharf which was bombed during the raid on 19th February 1942.

Questions about accessible tours in Darwin

How many wheelchair accessible tours are there in Darwin?

29 tours and experiences in Darwin have a supplier who states wheelchair access on Viator, as checked on 29 October 2026. 4 of those suppliers also describe the access in their own words, such as a step-free route, a lift or a ramp, and their tours are listed first.

Which wheelchair accessible tours in Darwin are rated highest?

Of those with at least 20 reviews on Viator: Darwin: Adelaide River Queen Original Jumping Crocodile Cruise (4.9 from 98 reviews), Cape Adieu Darwin Sunset Dinner Cruise (4.8 from 831 reviews) and Royal Flying Doctor Service Tourist Facility: Two Iconic Territory Stories (4.8 from 285 reviews). Ratings are travellers’ overall ratings on Viator, not ratings of the access.

What is the cheapest wheelchair accessible thing to do in Darwin?

Darwin: Feed Fish at Aquascene. Tickle Your Toes at Doctors Gully, from A$17 per person at the last price check (29 October 2026). Prices change, so confirm on Viator before you book.

Do any Darwin tours have wheelchair-accessible transport?

17 of the 29 say their transport is wheelchair accessible, as the supplier states. Look for the “Wheelchair-accessible transport” label on each tour.

Are there accessible public toilets in Darwin?

Yes. The National Public Toilet Map lists 46 facilities with an accessible toilet within 10 km of central Darwin, 1 of them with a Changing Places room, which has an adult change table and a hoist. See them on the map, with opening hours and what each one has.

Is wheelchair access on these tours guaranteed?

No. The access is as each supplier states it on Viator, and Inclusable hasn’t checked it. We leave out ticks that don’t hold up: demanding activities such as skydiving, diving or horse riding, and rides in an ordinary car, unless the supplier explains how wheelchair users take part, and tours whose own description contradicts the tick or says wheelchairs can’t be accommodated. Confirm your needs with the supplier before you book.

How do I book an accessible tour in Darwin?

Each tour’s “Book” button opens it on viator.com, where you choose a date and pay. Questions about access go to the supplier through Viator. Inclusable may earn a commission.
